Storks flying in the sky of Manno
(Hello, eveyone. I'm Karin Manno)
Have you seen big birds flying in the sky of Manno town?
They are storks, registered as a special natural species.
Today, I'd like to talk about storks, our new treasure in Manno.
In March 2023, nesting storks were found in Kotonami for the first time. It was big news when babies hatched. Soon more people became interested in storks.
Experts and local people worked together to protect the storks and their nest. We were happy that the parent storks returned to the nest again in February last year, then three babies hatched safely in April.
They were named "Karin"', "Koto" and "Minami" by local children.
Finally they left the nest in July and flew off to new lands in August.
Storks like places with a lot of nature. Because they need good food all year.
The storks showed us that Manno Town has beautiful nature!
Through this experience, I think that we should take pride in our beautiful nature, and try to make our town a place where storks can live with people.
I hope the parent storks will come back to Manno and we can see new baby storks again this year !
